You may not experience all the symptoms of twin pregnancy even if you are carrying twins in your womb and you may sometimes experience a few of these symptoms even when you are not carrying twins.   • Mood Swings- Mood swings are pretty common when you undergo hormonal changes, and you must have noticed that during your menstrual cycle. But, if you feel like you are behaving quite differently all of a sudden, this may be because you are pregnant with twins. 
  • High hCG Levels- In most cases, you’re tested for hCG a few days after you miss your period. In the case of twin pregnancies, your hCG levels dramatically increase enabling you to get a pregnancy confirmation immediately. 
  • Weight Gain- When you are expecting twins, you likely put on weight. When you are having twins, your cravings will also increase because your body is feeding 2 babies instead of 1. This sudden weight gain is due to increased blood volume, and enlarged ovaries. The change is quite visible and you will be able to easily spot it.
  • Extreme Fatigue- Fatigue is common in pregnant women. But if you are having twins, you will feel extremely tired. The levels of hormones will be nearly twice as much, making you feel exhausted. So, it is better to take rest as much as possible when you feel tired. 
  • Nausea- Women often experience nausea much earlier when they are pregnant with twins. Sometimes, you will also experience morning sickness. 

Even after you get these symptoms, it is better not to jump to any conclusion, because, you cannot confirm you are having twins just because you get these symptoms. So, it is better to take an ultrasound to confirm it.

What To Do When Spotting is Seen? 

It is normal to get scared when you see spotting or bleeding for the first time after IVF. But, if you want to overcome it, then you better learn the ways by which you can overcome them. Here is what you should do when you notice spotting or bleeding after IVF

  • When you are having twins, your body will require double the amount of hormones. In the case of IVF pregnancies, hormones are not naturally produced by your body, instead, they are taken as medications. So, your doctors might increase the dosage of hormone medications, and you will have to take them as recommended. 
  • You need not rush to the hospital right after you noticed the bleeding. Instead, take hormone medicines and communicate with the fertility expert. 
  • If the bleeding is not showing any signs of stopping, you may head to the fertility center. Even if it is solved for the time being, bleeding is more likely to appear again sometimes in the pregnancy period, especially if you are having a twin pregnancy. But you need not have to worry again.  

Is Spotting More Serious in Twin Pregnancies?

Spotting is common in twin pregnancies and sometimes, it might lead to miscarriage. Multiple pregnancies are more likely to cause miscarriages. This is because, often your body can’t support two pregnancies at the same time. So, couples with twin pregnancies get easily anxious when they see spotting in the first trimester itself. Bleeding is common in every IVF pregnancy. You might start seeing light spotting immediately after the procedure, but you are most likely to brush it off.
